The Client
David Huffman's clients are widely varied, but some of the most poignant, meaningful cases are those Veterans who have been denied benefits for years.
Many of those are Vietnam vets, who experienced unspeakable horrors on the battlefield, and a different kind of horror upon their return to U.S. soil, when they encountered a less-than-appreciative homecoming. Some of those soldiers continue to suffer the repercussions of their battle scars today, and choose not to be public about their identities.
The usual testimonial page offers names, pictures, sometimes even video of the person talking about his or her positive experiences. In this case, however, some of David Huffman's most vocal supporters are veterans who do not live a public life and choose not to have their pictures taken or even reveal their names. However, these are powerful statements about how David Huffman has changed lives with his personal and committed legal assistance:
"Mr. Huffman was there to help a fellow Veteran, and I was very thankful for that. He got me through all the paperwork, even took me to Cleveland when I had to go there, and did more than I ever expected from an attorney. His staff is also very helpful. I have the utmost praise for Terri, and for Charlotte McCallister - put a star beside her name.
He also helped a friend in Florida who was injured. I suggested she contact David. He helped her through the mail and on the phone, and got 100% disability benefits for her.
Mr. Huffman has a fantastic memory, and always remembers me by my voice. Even now that I've won my case and have benefits, I still stop in
to see him."
- Jacob Myers, US Army - cbt medic; served in Vietnam
"I met Dave after he had just arrived in Parkersburg. We struck up a conversation about the great need for legal help for veterans in this area, and their plight in trying to receive benefits. He said it was interesting that I mentioned that, because that's what he did. I had just won a silver dollar in some contest, and I pulled it out, handed it to him, and said, 'Here's your first dollar. Now here are my problems.'
Dave went on to guide me through the process, to represent me when necessary, and to help me to finally receive full benefits. He and his well-trained staff keep up with every regulation and are there to help when the VA denies your requests. He stays right on it, and keeps the veteran's name in the forefront. Dave has made a lot of friends here. He is the person to call when you need a professional in your corner."
-Major David H. Tedrick, USAR, Ret.; wounded in Vietnam
Mr. Tedrick's silver dollar hangs on the wall in David's office as a reminder of his first client in the Mid-Ohio Valley.
